"Before 10, After 5" celebrates a group of Western Australian ceramic artists with 5-10 years of professional practice, offering them a platform to showcase the evolution of their craft. The exhibition runs from September 30 to October 5 at Fremantle Church Gallery, 217 High Street Fremantle.
My theme for this exhibition is Nest Among Relics; birds make their homes within old machines and retired robots—organic life reclaiming technology. These sculptures speak to adaptability and quiet persistence, as each birdhouse becomes a sanctuary built from obsolescence. The series reflects a hopeful tension: nature nesting not in defiance of decay, but in harmony with it, suggesting that even in the rust and ruin, life finds a way to begin again.
